Shannon, your talk last night was absolutely brilliant!! In fact, I recommend you consider Divinity school, except you already got that message. Your talk was particularly relevant to me in many ways. Your experience of The Spirit stirring your spirit while singing resonated with me. I was 10 years old at a CFO camp when I stumbled on a youth group singing, “Jacobs Ladder”. As they sang, “If you love him, why not serve him”, I was seized by an irresistible calling that changed my life. I loved the way you walked us through your experience of, “Come Thou Fount of every Blessing”.
I felt proud of you and Winni when you identified John Lewis as a saint! Apparently, the angels agree with you because a double rainbow appeared over the Capital and brought a moment of peace to the storm before Lewis was taken to Ebenezer Baptist Church. Verse two begins, “Here I raise my Ebenezer”. I will always think of you and John Lewis when I sing that hymn. Thanks
Chris
Thank you so much, Chris! And thank you for sharing your own experience with a hymn reaching your heart.
